Pattern recognition is a kind of technology for describing, recognizing, classifying and explaining things or phenomenon by disposing and analyzing all kinds (numerical, literal and logical) of information representing things and phenomena. Moreover, it is the important part of information science and artificial Intelligence and one of the important areasin modern machine vision technology.

CompletedProjects:

Authenticating method of soybean form based on computer vision (2010):

This project is a funded project by the Crop Institute of Agricultural Academy. This developed software can recognize and classify the characteristics, such as shape, color and size and so on, of the leaf, plant and grain of soybean. The project completed in October, 2010. Project participants: Zhao Hui, Tao Wei, Liu Manhua, Tang Xiaodong, Dai Shuhua.

Large-scale fingerprint identification (NANYANG Technological University Singapore)

Fingerprint identification technology generally relates to search large-scale fingerprint database and it is widely used for personal identificationin both commercial and forensic areas. This project proposed a novel fingerprint identification scheme by fusion of multiple fingerprint featuresthrough multilevel indexing to solve the problem of large-scale fingerprint identification.Itnot only canimprove the search speed but alsorecognitionaccuracy of large-scale fingerprint identification system.  Project participants: Alex C.Kot, Jiang Xudong, Liu Manhua.

The research of high-speed detection technology about Railway buckles losing and equipment development (863)

National “863” project, the key technology research detecting train with the highest speed of 400km per hour and equipment development uses absolute distance measurement based on laser and computer vision technology, and the method of composite pattern recognition and high-speed parallel processing algorithm. Then the online detection of Railway buckles losing has been achieved, and the equipment is successfully used in the detection train in Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway. Project participants: Zhao Hui, Tao Wei, Liu Mauhua, Lei Huaming,YangJinfeng, QianGuangchun, Liu Hui, Wu Fang,WangMengxue.
